  FAQ 1. Are these lids Lead-free, PVC-free, phthalate-free? A:Yes these lids lead-free, PVC-free and phthalate-free. Silicone is made by bonding silicon and oxygen. it was deemed safe by the FDA in 1979. Food grade silicone is inert, so it is non-toxic.   2. For those who use them in the microwave. They are a tight seal. Do you vent them somehow, to avoid possible exploding? A:I have used them in the microwave, and there was no problem.   3. Description says oven safe. What is the maximum temperature they can be heated at?  A:It says up to 230 C(446 F).   4. I would use these as microwave splatter guards. Glass plates work, but they get too hot to touch. Are these lids melt-resistant and cool to the touch? A:I use mine almost daily in the microwave. They stay cool, and are much easier to use and clean up than glass plates that I used to use. They work well covering a coffee mug to help keep a hot beverage hot. Also I use them in the refrigerator to cover leftovers or a serving bowl. Just don't expect the seal to hold if you pick it up by the lid!
